It was a beautiful typical late summer weekend and a few of us got out to enjoy the US Civil War re-enactment in Milton. The Country Heritage Park was an excellent backdrop to the weekends events. If you get a chance to head over, there is lots to shoot even with no events going on.
While the re-enactment was only attended by approx 100 people each day, that made it all the better for the crowd that was there. We were able to stop and chat with any of the re-enactors you wished and they were very open to posing for pictures and showing off their uniforms and kit. Finding a great vantage point to shoot from was easy and the demonstrations put on by the various “sections” of the two army’s present were excellent. Bob, Tom, Doris, Roger and I ( sorry if I missed anyone else who went on the Saturday) all tried to get the coveted ” muzzle flash” shot from the cannon but only Bob was sharp on his timing and pulled it off… maybe next time he can give the rest of us some pointers !
Head on over to Bob, Tom, Doris or Barb‘s Flickr pages for more pictures !
There is one more “summer” re-enactment at Backus Mill on Sept 7-8 so if you like what you see and want to try and give it a shot ( I know bad pun) head on down. At the very least it is an informative day on history that we tend to forget about. ~B
